Customs ASO impounds NDP vehicle worth Rs2.5m near Toll Plaza

HYDERABAD: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded a non-duty-paid Toyota Hiace van worth Rs2.5million involving duties and taxes of Rs3.5 million during an action at national highway Toll Plaza.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq received a tip-off that a non-duty paid vehicle is moving on the road. He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Additional Collector Dr Amer Nawaz Hamid.

The customs team asked the driver to show the documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle but he could not show any of them

So the customs team took the vehicle into possession following the customs bylaws. After making a seizure report, the ASO team deposited the said impounded smuggling Toyota Hi ace van into the Sukkur State Warehouse.

Customs ASO officials told that vigilance has been enhanced against the smuggling of vehicles on roads. The Customs authorities said the Hyderabad Customs showed excellent performance regarding the anti-smuggling actions during said period.
