Vehicle loaded with smuggling goods impounded on tip-off by ASO Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad took into possession smuggling foreign origin slim TVs and LED TVs along with an offending vehicle valued at Rs1.00million at GT Road, Toll Plaza No: 26 Islamabad.

According to details explained by Majid Hussain Gadd, Assistant Collector Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad, that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad got a tip-off that an offending vehicle bearing registration No: LRJ-3788 was coming from KP to Rawalpindi having foreign origin smuggling goods.
The ASO staff set up a picket and intercepted the above said offending vehicle. Assistant Collector told CT that the ASO staff asked the possessors of items for showing documents proving the legal status of the goods but they failed to do so.
The ASO staff confiscated the smuggling goods comprising foreign origin slim TV LEDs of 32” HD in quantity of 10, LED TVs 22” HD in quantity of 20 and LED TVs 20” HD in quantity of 10 along with a Suzuki pickup. An FIR has been registered against the tax evader and the case forwarded to I&P Department for further investigation.
The staff, taking part in the said seizure, consisted of Superintendent Abdul Mallak, Superintendent Muhammad Junaid, Inspector Abdul Hafeez and staff of class IV.
