RAWALPINDI: Ambassador Khadija Mohamed Almakhzoumi and commercial attaché Khaddar Dheen Gulled from the embassy of federal republic of Somalia paid a visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here.
Addressing traders and industrialists, she said, Pakistan had great opportunities to enhance its trade and exports by establishing close business relations with Somalia. Somalia is a gateway to African markets, she added.
The relations between Pakistan and Somalia are good, because we uphold the principle of mutual respect and trust. There are immense opportunities to increase bilateral trade ties in different sectors, live stock, fisheries, agriculture, construction, real estate and pharmaceutical.
Commercial attaché Khaddar Dheen in his remarks urged business community to take benefits of lucrative incentive being offered by Somalian Government. We are ready to help investors in identifying key areas of mutual interest and joint ventures.
Earlier, President RCCI, Zahid Latif Khan, in his welcome address said, trade between Pakistan and Somalia was not very encouraging and stressed that frequent exchange of business delegations was the best option to improve bilateral trade volume. Business to Business (B2B) meetings can be good source of increasing trade in key export sectors like Rice, pharmaceutical, marble and textile, he added. He also stressed to improve the air links, direct flights to Mogadishu for better transportation.
He invited Somalian envoy to participate in upcoming RCCI’s All Pakistan Women Chambers President’s Summit (APWCPS) on December 18-19. RCCI chief also gave an overview of current activities and upcoming events. Later a memento was presented to Khadija Mohamed.
Senior Vice President Muhammad Nasir Mirza, Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi, former presidents Shimail Daud, Raja Amer Iqbal, members of the executive committee and a large number of traders attended the meeting.
