KARACHI: The Customs Exports has recovered the evaded taxes and duties amounting to Rs22.1million from three companies which were issued with notices to pay outstanding dues.
Sources told reporter that, during scrutiny of the import data, it was found that M/s Shumail and Co. availed undue benefits and concessions by importing different consignments and misusing the SRO 566.
The company founded involved in a tax evasion of Rs6.23million. After detecting tax evasion, the Customs Exports issued them with final notice to deposit the evaded amount within seven days. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Shumail and Co. deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Exports.
On the other hand, the management of the M/s B M Classic Paint also cleared Rs5.26million of taxes and duties. Sources said the M/s B M Classic Paint also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.
The Customs Exports authorities issued them with a final show cause notice. After receiving the notice, the management of the B M Classic Paint deposited the evaded amount of taxes.
Other defaulter company Shabbir Saleh Enterprises deposited Rs3.11million against the final notice No: 242/2017 issued on September 11, 2017.
Sources said the Customs Exports also recovered Rs7.50million from M/s Adeeba Rizvi Fabrics. The company availed undue benefits and concessions by importing the consignments of net fabrics and other items. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Adeeba Rizvi fabrics cleared the amount.
