Customs foils bid to smuggle Rs5.63m smartphones from Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has foiled an attempt to smuggle smartphones and seized foreign origin mobile phones worth Rs5.63 million at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad.

Additional Collector Nisar Ahmed received information through Collector Saeed Jadoon that an attempt would be made to smuggle mobile phones through a flight coming from Dubai to Islamabad.

A raising party was formed under the supervision of Assistant Collectors Sadia Usman and Ali Asad. During the clearance, passenger identified as ARshad Khan s/o Mohammad Mumtaz was found suspicious as he was trying to pass through green channel along with baggage.
