NAB launches new inquiry against Chaudhry brothers, family

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sought assets details of former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and their family members from Excise and Taxation Department.

A fresh inquiry had been launched against Chaudhry family and assets details had been sought from Excise and Taxation Department from 1985 to onward. A letter addressed to Director General Excise and Taxation Department says, “In connection with an investigation started by Bureau under provision of NAO 1999 and schedule thereto, general search of vehicles, properties (Moveable and immoveable), held, inherited, purchased, sold by their nine family members is required”.

The family members’ names include, Ch Shjaat Hussain, Mrs. Kausar Hussain, Shafay Hussain, Salik Husssain, Kharriya Shujaaat Hussain, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi, Mrs. Qaisra Elahi, Moonis Elahi and Rasikh Elahi.

The letter further says, “In this regard you are requested to conduct the said general search and provide comprehensive report of traced out vehicles, properties along with relevant documents to the Bureau.”

Director General Excise and Taxation has sent the same letter to directors concerned for further necessary action.
