Customs Court puts off hearing of 9700-mobiles smuggling case by 23rd

MULTAN: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the hearing of 9,700 cell-phones smuggling case till 23rd of December.

The Collectorate of Multan Customs team produced accused Muhammad Naveed before the customs court who is involved in smuggling of a huge quantity of Q-Mobile cell-phones.

It is pertinent to mention here that Multan Customs team raided a house located in the cantonment area and recovered a huge quantity of non-customs-paid mobile-phones (Q-Mobiles) worth Rs100million.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization Multan recovered various foreign branded cell-phones of Q-Mobile and other companies during the raid. These recovered cell-phones were brought into the country through import mis-declaration of M/s Digicom Telecom Company.

The Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Branch nominated accused Muhammad Naveed in the smuggling of recovered cell-phones and lodged a criminal case against him.

The accused was presented to customs court for hearing where the Customs Judge asked him to submit comments on the registered case. After giving a hearing to the accused, the judge postponed further hearing of the case till 23rd of December (Saturday) December.
