Customs Faisalabad impounds NDP generator with its carrier vehicle

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a non-duty-paid 400-KVA foreign origin generator. The market value of the confiscated generator is Rs4.2millions involving duties and taxes of Rs2.2millions besides impounding of carrier vehicle valued at Rs2millions.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani received a tip-off that a generator is being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad through Mazda truck without payment of duties and taxes.

He immediately formed an ASO team comprising Tanveer Raza Naqvi (Superintendent), Faizi Raza, Waqas Ali (Inspectors) and Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Liaqat Ali, Zulifqar Ali (Sepoys).

The team intercepted a truck loaded with a smuggling generator near Pansara Jhang Road Faisalabad. The team asked driver Umar Qasim to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the generator. But he failed to do so.

The ASO team took into possession the generator and its carrier vehicle and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings.
