Evaded taxes & duties retrieved by Customs Export after serving notices on defaulter companies

KARACHI: The Customs Export has recovered the evaded taxes and duties amounting to Rs9.58million from defaulter companies which had been issued with notices to pay the outstanding dues.

Sources told Customs Today that, during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Tufail Waraich Fertilizer availed undue benefits and concessions by importing different consignments and misusing the SRO 467.

The company was found involved in a tax evasion of Rs3.58million. After detecting tax evasion, the Customs Export issued them with final notice on January 3, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within 14 days. After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Tufail Waraich Fertilizer deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on 1st of February.

On the other hand, the management of the M/s Esra Garments and Boutique Karachi also cleared Rs6million of taxes and duties. Sources said the M/s Esra Garments and Boutique Karachi also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served a final notice on it on January 11, 2018. After receiving the notice, the management of Esra Garments and Boutique Karachi deposited the evaded amount of taxes.
