FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated 297 crates of foreign origin Rani Juice being smuggled from Karachi into Faisalabad at a delivery godown of Railways named M/s Ittehad Adda Faisalabad. The expiry date of the seized juice is 12-01-2019, while market value of the juice is Rs3,50,000 involving customs duty and taxes of Rs80,000.

Sources told Customs Today, that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamdani directed the Anti-Smuggling Organization about the smuggling of Rani juice. After receiving this information, Assistant Collector immediately constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Shah Nawaz, Sepoy Afzaal Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf, and Zulfiqar Ali. During thorough checking of the godown, ASO team impounded 7120 tins of Rani Juice.

The team asked Muhammad Ahmad son of Ghulam Murtaza (owner) about the legal status of the goods. He showed a copy of GD No, 1723 which is irrelevant as date of manufacturing printed on juice tins is 13-01-2018 without a bill of entry. He could not prove the legal status of the imported goods. So ASO team seized the juice and registered a case against the accused persons.
