QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has foiled a bid to smuggle imported watches, cameras and computer wires worth Rs 8 million during special checking on Friday morning.
Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle imported watches, cameras and other things from Quetta to different cities.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Superintendent Israr Ahmed and others. The team enhanced the surveillance in Quetta Road and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration no: GS-762 which was going from Quetta to different cities.
During the checking, the customs team recovered 100 imported watches, 300 still cameras, 500 computer cables, memory cards, mouse and key board sets and quantity of ram worth Rs8 million. The customs team seized all the items and arrested two smugglers including a driver.
The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta registered an FIR against the smugglers and started investigations. The team also impounded the passenger bus being used for smuggling.
