SHC issues notice on petition filed by M/s Al-Mansoor Petroleum Services

KARACHI: The Sindh high Court (SHC) has issued notices to the Customs Department and deputy attorney general on a constitutional petition filed by M/s Al-Mansoor Petroleum Services and others, seeking release of their oil tanker loaded with 19,000 liter high speed diesel.

While hearing the petition, a two-member bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omer Siyal, also directing them to file their respective para wise comments on the next date of hearing.

Earlier, counsel for M/s Al-Mansoor Petroleum Services, Yaseen Akhtar and others stated that officials of the Anti-Smuggling Organization stopped their oil tanker loaded with 19,000 liters diesel. During the search, the diver of the oil tanker produced lawful documents, but the officials arrested the diver and seized the oil tanker and oil.

Citing Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Secretary Ministry of Finance, the Superintendent Customs, Anti-Smuggling Organization of the Hyderabad and others as respondents, petitioners pleaded the court to declare the act of the respondents as illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.

They also pleaded the court may direct them to release their oil tanker and said oil and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioners.
