Multan Customs Intelligence seized huge quantity of foreign origin wood

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized huge quantity of foreign origin Diyar (wood) of Rs.3 million during their action.

Sources told Customs Today, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) Multan field staff received credible information regarding the smuggling of foreign origin wood will smuggled through Dera Ghazi Khan Region. Field Intelligence Unit of Customs was comprised under the supervision of Senior Intelligence Officer Haq Nawaz, Inspector Muhammad Umer and others to thwart any attempt of smuggling from jurisdiction operation to foil attempt of smuggling.

Field Intelligence staff was deputed at the various routes to prevent any attempt of smuggling in the jurisdiction. Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams intercepted the loaded truck with foreign Origin Timber Diyar wood near Dera Ghazi Khan Region. The net weight of the detained Diyar wood was almost 34.5 tons according to produce documents of importer.

During the verification of Customs Intelligence said import documents were proved bogus and irreverent from their loaded woods. The said wood was Afghan origin and it was coming Baluchistan and they were trying to transport the smuggle wood in South Punjab.
