One govt bill passed and four reports presented in Senate

ISLAMABAD: The Upper House of Parliament has passed a government bill and witnessed presentation of four reports of Standing Committee on Finance.

State Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Dr. Darshan moved the National Skills University Islamabad Bill, 2017 which was passed by the House.

On behalf of the Chairman Standing Committee on Finance, a member of the Committee Senator Mohsin Leghari presented special reports regarding separation of cadres of Accounts and Audit in order to avoid conflict of interest and legislation in respect of the Federal Consolidated Fund and Public Account.

He also presented reports of the Committee on two Calling Attention Notices regarding issuance of SRO No. 47(I)/2018 on January 23, 2018 to exempt one particular company from payment of Sales Tax as well as Federal Excise Duty and promotion policy 2016-17 of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

The House passed five motions under Rule 194 (1) to grant extension to Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat for presentation of its reports on five bills which included the Protection of Economic Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2016; the Islamabad Gun and Country Club (Administration and Management) Bill, 2017; the Islamabad Club Administration and Management Bill, 2017; the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2017 and the Prevention and Management of Conflict of Interest Bill, 2017.
