LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday asked the DG FIA to present a probe report on the fake performance enhancement drugs case.

This was ordered by the CJP as he was hearing a complaint lodged by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) with the Supreme Court Human Rights Cell against Everest Pharmaceuticals for manufacturing fake drugs.

Hearing the case against fake drugs, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that the court cannot let anyone influence the case.

A CJP-led three-member bench had summoned IG Punjab and RPO Bahawalpur after allegations that the latter may be protecting people involved in the crime. IG Punjab told the court that the allegation was baseless.

“On our orders, an officer raided a factory; the next day, NAB issued him a notice”, said CJP, “It seems that these people are influential.”

CJP asked DG FIA to complete investigation and submit a report to the court.

After the previous hearing of the case on Tuesday, the owner of the pharmaceutical company, manufacturing fake enhancement drugs, was arrested from the premises of SC at the behest of CJP.

A three-member bench of the top court, headed by the chief justice, was hearing the case pertaining fake enhancement drugs.

As the hearing resumed, Justice Nisar ordered authorities to arrest the pharmaceutical company owner, Usman from the court.

The court also ordered the suspension of Bahawalpur Regional Police Officer (RPO) but later withdrew the orders and allowed the RPO to serve until March 8.

A complaint has been launched against the pharmaceutical company in human rights cell of Supreme Court.
