ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved an inquiry against Pir Sibgatullah Rashidi and officers of the Board of Revenue, Korangi, for “illegally” allotting a government plot to a private person.
The decision to this effect was taken at the Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of the anti-corruption watchdog, which was held at NAB Headquarters on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Javed Iqbal.
The EBM also authorised filing of a corruption reference against former Sui Southern Gas Pipelines Company Limited (SSGCL) managing director Azeem Iqbal Siddique, former Finance Committee chairman Shahid Aziz Siddique, former finance general manager Malik Usman Hassan and others.
They have been accused of hiring the services of MS Pro Gas Private Limited without verifying their technical and financial capabilities, which is against the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules. That anomaly has allegedly inflicted a loss of Rs 1.174 billion to the national kitty.
An inquiry was also authorised against former Capital Development Authority (CDA) member state Brig (r) Asad Munir, former CDA director estate Khalid Mehmood Mirza, Ziaur Rehman Toor and others.
They have been involved in restoration of a plot in Islamabad by using their authority illegally, which caused million of rupee losses to national kitty.
The EBM authorised another inquiry against former Balochistan AIG Abdul Qadeer Bhatti for having assets beyond known sources of income.
Yet another investigation was authorised by the EBM against Sindh Local Government Department for illegally appointing 12,810 persons, causing losses to national kitty.
