CANBERRA: Australia’s tax collector is facing a government investigation following whistleblower allegations accusing the office of encouraging its staff to target vulnerable taxpayers in revenue grabs, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Tuesday.
Kelly O’Dwyer, the minister for revenue and financial services, told ABC she requested an investigation into the Australian Taxation Office after the television network reported on Monday about an allegedly “toxic internal culture” at the office.
