Audit cases should be settled on priority basis: FBR Member IT Khawaja Adnan Zaheer

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member IT Khawaja Adnan Zaheer has visited Corporate Regional Tax Office (CRTO) and Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) to review the progress of audit cases.

Taking to Customs Today, FBR Member Information Technology Khawaja Adnan Zaheer said that he held meeting with all officers of Corporate Regional Tax Office (CRTO) and Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) to review progress of the audit cases.

During meeting with the Chief Commissioner Corporate Regional Tax Office (CRTO) Syed Nadeem Rizvi and Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) Asim Majeed Khan and all commissioners of Inland Revenue, Khawaja Adnan Zaheer stressed on the need for speedy disposal of pending audit cases.

“Member Taxpayers audit heard the stance of officers regarding the audit cases and issued strict order to dispose of cases to ensure tax collection from the taxpayers”. He highlighted that huge amount can be collected through audit and FBR wants to resolve this issue on priority basis.

He told that Federal Board of Revenue is on the way to achieve the revenue target set by the Federal Government in the budget 2017-18. All officers are trying hard to achieve the target to strengthen national economy.

Khawaja Adnan Zaheer said that for national interest the collaboration between the taxpayers and officers is very important and he always encourages his subordinates to get positive results.

He said that the disposal of pending audit cases in all Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) and Large Taxpayers Units (LTUs) across Pakistan is his priority and he issued orders to all Chief Commissioners of Regional Tax Offices and Large Taxpayers Units for early disposal of audit cases because a huge amount in tax can be collected through the completion of these audit cases. He advised taxpayers to provide relevant record to the audit officer in national interest.

He said that trust-based working atmosphere is key to success. For capacity building of the officials and officers, training workshops were arranged to discuss different issues of tax laws.

He told that on this key post he is utilizing his experience as he has performed his duties on different senior posts in different Regional Tax Offices.

He also advised the taxpayers of the country that they should pay their tax liability in national interest. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is working efficiently under the dynamic leadership of its chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha.
