ASO seizes huge quantity of Indian origin fabric & vehicle

ISLAMABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantity of Indian origin fabric along with offending vehicle which was coming from Azad Kashmir.

According to details the Collector Dr. Zulfikar Ali Chaudhry received information that an attempt would be made to smuggle Indian origin fabric, shawls etc. through truck bearing registration no:  Lok-3411 via Azad Kashmir.

In light of this information Additional Collector Muhammad Ashfaq constituted a team headed by Assistant Collector Preventive Majid Hussain Gaad, Farrukh Satti and Superintendent Malik Abid Hussain, Muhammad Hafeez and Inspector Javed Masood.

The team established a check post near Bara Kahu and started checking of vehicles. A truck was signaled to stop but the driver instead of stopping the vehicle increased the speed. The truck was followed and intercepted near Rawal Dam.

The sources told that on search of the vehicle, huge quantity of fine quality Indian origin fabric was recovered. The value of the smuggled goods stood at Rs3 million in the market.

The contraband goods along with truck have been taken into custody and FIR registered against the driver and owner. Further investigations are under process.
