LHC seeks reply from collector in contempt case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked the collector of Customs Appraisement Mughalpura to submit his reply before the court. The Court has sent him notice on contempt of court.

According to details available to Customs Today, Justice Shamas Mehmood Mirza heard the petition of the citizen. A citizen has moved petition against Collector Jameel Nasir Khan. The petitioner prayed that customs authorities are not releasing his consignment after clear order issued by the court. He has said in his petition that the LHC in its verdict of April 4 directed customs to release consignment of the applicant but customs is not following the orders of the respectable court.

On other hand, the Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling heard 11 important cases on Saturday and adjourned most until the next hearing.

On Saturday, a total of 11 cases of different types were scheduled for hearing, including indictment against the accused in mobile smuggling case. The cases, including tax evasion, customs, smuggling and narcotics, were scheduled for the day.
