Quetta Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle goods worth Rs9.50m

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has foiled a bid to smuggle non custom paid tiles, wall paints boxes and others goods worth Rs 9.50 million during checking.

Sources told Customs Today on Saturday, that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle sanitary items included floor tiles, wall paints boxes from Quetta to Karachi.

He immediately constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Kazim Rizvi and others. The team enhanced the surveillance in Nawa Kali Highway Road and started searching of vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted two trucks bearing registration no: MGA-3462 AND SG-4821 which was going from Quetta to Karachi.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 500 packets of non-duty paid international tiles (made in France) and 800 small boxes of wall paints worth Rs 9.50 million. The customs team seized all tiles and paint boxes and arrested four smugglers including truck drivers. Source told that after completion of necessary investigations a FIR will be lodged against the smugglers.
