Customs ASO seizes dry fruit & vehicle from GT Road Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organization seized almond without shell, dried apricot, almond with shell and plum along with offending vehicle worth Rs2 million from GT Road Rawalpindi.

According to details told by Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gadd Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) that on tip off from Collector Zulifqar Ali Chaudhry the ASO team intercepted an Hino truck bearing registration No.JZ0612 which was coming from Peshawar side, he added that because owner of the dry fruit who was identified as Zulfiqar Ali son of Zohrab Baba failed to show any relevant legal documents regarding possession and transportation of dry fruit.

The assistant collector told that after seizing the said smuggled goods and offending vehicle the Customs staff bring them to state warehouse where FIR has been filed against the possessor of smuggled goods and vehicle according to Customs Act 1969.

He said that Customs ASO team after registering a case of smuggling against the accused persons forwarded the case to to Investigation and Prosecution (I&P)department for further process.

He said that the staff who take part in the operation comprises Assistant Collector ASO Majid Hussain Gaad, Superintendents Abid Hussain Malak, Farrukh Hussain Satti, Inspector Asghar Kamal with class (V) staff of Shift 1st, it was added that ASO Islamabad have expedited its efforts to curb smuggling activities because the ending of financial year
