Secretary commerce to hold meeting with GB importers today

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Secretary Planning Commission Sohaib Ahmad Saddaqi will hold a meeting among all stake holders of Gilgit Baltistan to solve the issue of installation of WeBOC at Sost dry port  on Thursday (today).

Gilgit Baltistan’s importers are still on strike since 1st May 2018. The importers protesting against Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) who has ordered to run the Sost dry port under Web Based One Customs (WeBOC), due to said protests the business activity at GB stopped which cause huge damage to the national economy.

In this regard Jawad Akram Home Secretary GB, Additional Collector Yousaf Aurakzai and Deputy Collector Shakar Ullah of MCC GB already held a meeting in presence of Muhammad Ali Quaid President  Nigar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) GB during current month to solving issue raised by Importers against installation of WeBOC at Sost dry port.

The Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also held a meeting on last Friday with the representatives of Nigar Chamber of Commerce and Industries along with other importers of GB while Feroze Alam Junejo Collector Model Customs Collectorate GB and Chief Collector North Jawad Agha was also presented in the said meeting.

The sources told that the issue has been raised to the Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal who has asked secretary planning to solve said issue.
