Additional Collector Imran issues show-cause notice to accused involved in narcotics smuggling

ISLAMABAD: Additional Collector Adjudication Imran Ahmed Chaudhary has issued a final show-cause notice to Brayn Canedy in the heroin smuggling case.

According to the show-cause notice, it has been reported by the Assistant Collector I&P received an credible information that an attempt to smuggle out a huge quantity of heroin powder abroad from Islamabad International Airport would be made through a flight No. PK-233.

Meanwhile during the checking of passengers, the Customs team intercepted a passenger namely Brayn Canedy and recovered 1510 grams of heroin powder which was tactfully concealed inside the sole of the shoes found in the baggage.

Notice further stated that upon the chemical examination of the recovered powder in the National Institute of Health Islamabad, 1300 gram heroin was found contraband, while result of the rest of 200 grams was negative. A criminal case FIR No. 04/2018 was registered against the offender.

In the light aforesaid report and in exercise of the power vested under Section-179 of the Customs Act 1969, the Additional Collector Adjudication Islamabad issued a show-cause notice to Brayn Canedy in the heroin smuggling case to show the cause as to why penal action should not be taken against him under Section 156 (1) (8)(ii) (C) 157, 178 of the Customs Act 1969.
