Multan Customs impounds smuggled vehicle worth Rs1m

MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded non-customs paid vehicles of worth Rs1 million in their crackdown.

According to details, Multan Customs received reliable information from their source that smuggled vehicles are moving in the Sahiwal region. Acting upon the said information, Deputy Collector Multan Customs  Saqibur Rehman directed his staff to initiate action against smuggled vehicles.

The Customs Collectorate formed two teams of Anti-Smuggling Organization including Inspector Maqsood Ahmad, Inspector Muhammad Sajid , Ghulam Abbas, Ishfaq Hussain and others to impound non-duty paid vehicle.

Anti-smuggling squad conducted patrolling of the suspected routes after receiving information and enhanced monitoring of the various routes.

Anti-smuggling squad seized the suspected Toyota Vitz car of model 1999 in their actions. Drivers of said vehicle were asked to produce legal document for proving possession of said vehicle but said driver failed to produce any documents to Customs teams. Customs teams seized the vehicle under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations against seized vehicles are still underway.
