Jamil Nasir’s Customs Appraisement impounds 14 luxury vehicles imported from Japan

LAHORE: Collector of Customs Appraisement Jamil Nasir impounded fourteen vehicles which were imported from Japan at Mughalpura Dry port.

Sources told Customs Today that all 14 vehicles were impounded after Counsel General of Japan Yukio MATSUMOTO” confirmed that the above said vehicles were imported from Japan are stolen vehicles.

The Counsel-General also suggested Pakistan Customs to contact National Police Agency of Japan through Interpol for further action against the importer of stolen vehicles.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Today got the copy of reply of the letter which was written by Deputy Collector Sobia Kiran CFS, Lahore to Japanese Counsel General.

According to the details, 14 Land Cruisers were imported from Japan which reached Karachi and after that transported to Mughalpur Dry Port Lahore.

During the inspection of vehicles at dry port, customs officials observed that the vehicle’s driver side gates are broken. The same staff observed that there are some imbugities in the import of the vehicles.

Deputy Collector Sobia Kiran approached Japanese consulate for the clarification of same vehicles. Customs Appraisement got reply that same vehicles are stolen and action should be taken through Interpol.

After getting the reply from Japan Consulate, Customs department impounded the stolen vehicles.

During the investigations, source told Customs Today that during the inspection of same case, Principle Appraiser Moazzam Virk was transferred and Appraiser Shah Jahan Dogar resigned from job due to pressure.

Customs Today when contacted with Principle Appraiser Moazzam Virk, who is directly involved in the case, he told that after getting reply from Japan Consulate, Customs department impounded vehicles in spite of immense pressure exerted by a PML-N politician.
