ICCI strongly condemns recent acts of terrorism in the country

ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Amir Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry strongly condemned the suicide attack at Mastung, Balochistan that killed 128 people including prominent political leader Siraj Raisani and injured several people. He expressed condolence with the bereaved families and called upon the Government to take urgent measures to eliminate terrorism from the country as these incidents would badly effect trade and investment activities and cause huge economic loss to the country.

Sheikh Amir Waheed said that Pakistan Army and all other stakeholders had worked hard to eliminate the terrorism from the country, but in recent acts of terrorism including the suicide attack in Peshawar in which 22 people were killed including Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haroon Bilour and terrorist attack in Bannu in which 4 people were killed reflected that the terrorism was raising its head again in the country.

ICCI President said that said Pakistan has suffered economic losses of 126 billion dollars in the last 17 years due to terrorism and cannot afford more acts of terrorism in the country. He urged that the elimination of terrorism was essential to put the economy on the path of sustainable economic development. He assured that business community would fully cooperate with Pakistan Army and the government to establish peace and remove terrorism from the country as peaceful environment was key requirement to promote trade, commerce, industrial activities and investment in the country.
