Customs Export recovers Rs5.88m from M/s J J & Sons, M/s Zaheer Associates

KARACHI: Collector Customs Export Saqif Saeed recovered evaded amount of Rs5.88 million taxes and duties from M/s J J & Sons and another company M/s Zaheer Associates.

Sources told Customs Today on Friday that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s J J & Sons availed undue benefits and concessions by importing a consignment of imported crockery items by misusing the SRO 543 through Examiner Zahid Ali on December 9, 2017.

Sources said that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 2.88 million. Investigations were initiated after after detecting the tax evasion and the Customs Export issued a final notice on July 23, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within 14 days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s J J & Sons deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on August 3, 2018.

M/s Zaheer Associates also cleared outstanding amount of Rs3 million amount of taxes and duties. Sources said that M/s Zaheer Associates also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs laws.

The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on June 25. The management of M/s Zaheer Associates .deposited the evaded amount after receiving the final notice in this regard.
