Collector Saeed Jadoon directs staff to curb corruption & smuggling to increase revenue

PESHAWAR: Collector Customs Collectorate Muhammad Saeed Jadoon directed customs staff to eliminate the risk of corruption and perform duty with fearless heart.

The Collector customs lauded the Customs officials for their untiring efforts for collecting revenue more than the assigned targets and said that with prosperous hard work and good intentions the Collectorate surpassed the revenue targets.

The Collector Customs met meeting with Customs officers at Customs House recently and said that the Anti-Smuggling Units should speed up operations against smuggling activities carried out by evil elements in the jurisdiction.

The collector directed deputy collector to take strict action against the customs officials not meeting the requirements of the Collectorate. The collector said no effort will be spared to mend the ways of corrupt officials.

The collector further said with new agreements, the Pak-Afghan Trade Route will be brought to limelight as its serves as main trade route which benefits for enhancing revenue of Customs Collectorate.

Adding about decrease in the revenue collection via Torkham route, the collector said that due to worst situation of law and order in Afghanistan and delay in peace process there, low trade had been recorded, resulting in low collection of revenue.

The collector further said the Collectorate is keen to solve the quarries and problems faced by the importers, exporters and transporters for which efficient team is constituted.

Collector Customs Muhammed Saeed Jadoon further added that the performance of customs officials has been improved due to which record seizures were conducted during last three months. The ASO impounded several vehicles loaded with non-duty paid goods worth Rs 25 million during the month July till 14 August.

The Collector Customs appreciated the ASO Nowshehra, Mardan and Kohat for seizure of large quantity of NPD goods and said that the customs department fell proud of brave officials who curbed smuggling in order to benefit the national exchequer.

The collector customs lauded the Customs staff and said that upon directives of chairperson Federal Board of Revenue, the Customs House Peshawar has been committed to increase the net collection of revenue for national exchequer.
