Gwadar Customs foils bid to smuggle non duty paid goods worth Rs9.50m

GWADAR: Customs Collectorate team seized huge quantity of non-duty paid fancy jewelry and brake oil, vehicle being used for smuggling worth Rs 8.50 million.

Sources told Customs Today on 24.8.2018 that Deputy Collector Junaid Mehmood received secret information that some smugglers were trying to smuggle non-duty paid fancy jewelery and brake oil from Gwadar to Karachi.

After receiving this information, he constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Ghulam Mehmood and others. The team, during a search operation on Gawadar Highway, intercepted a truck bearing registration no BZV-8392.

During search, the team recovered more than 200 sets of fancy jewelry and Iranian brake oil canes worth Rs8.50 million including truck being used in smuggling.

The team seized all smuggled items and arrested truck driver, who were later identified as Abrar Ahmed. Sources said that customs official started investigations from accused person.
