Customs ASO impounds goods & vehicle worth Rs22m from Brandreth Road

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded over Rs 22 million illegally imported goods and articles and vehicles.

Sources told Customs Today on 3.9.2018 that on specific secret information of Additional Deputy Collector Tayyaba Kayani, the Anti-Smuggling Organization under the supervision of Deputy Collector Muhammad Moazzam Raza and Superintendent Agha Qadeer Haider after obtaining search warrants from the court, raided on a godown situated at Brandreth Road and recovered non duty paid smuggled welding electrode weighing 20554 kilogram and betel nuts weighing 696 kilograms. The approximate value of the goods is Rs7.5 million.

Sources told that the raiding team includes Inspectors Zafar Iqbal, Nasir Saeed, Shahid Bhatti, Saleem Shahid, Sajjad Bukhari, Azam Wattoo, Rao Mansoor Elahi.

Furthermore during the last week of August the ASO teams detained Mercedes Benz bearing E-300 car, Model 2002, Honda Reborn Model 2010, ball bearings 3500 kilograms, tamarind (imli)100 bags containing  5000 kilograms, crockery cartons 145, shampoo 80 cartons, along with Isuzu truck, cigarettes of assorted brand  35 cartons. The value of these non-duty paid smuggled goods is Rs15 million. Sources told that cases has been registered against smugglers and further investigations are still under way till the filing of this report.
