Peshawar Customs thwarts attempt of smuggling weapons

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs team foiled an attempt of smuggling weapons to Punjab from Dera Adam Khel on Wednesday.

Additional Collector Dr. Mohammad Ahsan told Customs Today that anti-smuggled squad posted at Chamkani thwarted the attempt while acting on tip off given by high ups. The weapons include 22 pistols, 20 rifles and 83 magazines. The ASO team also recovered above thirty seven thousand bullets from the procession of accused smugglers.

Accused Bilal and Naveed have been booked in the FIR for violating customs acts and further investigations are under way. The additional collector lauded the efforts of anti-smuggling unit and said that a very big attempt has been thwarted for which the officials need appreciation.

The additional collector added that Dara Adam Khel has been very famous for making of duplicate weapons due to which the surveillance has been increased.

The additional collector further said no effort will be spared to mend the ways of smugglers for which efficient steps been taken by Customs department. Smuggling of weapons have caused big problem in Pakistan due to which security forces faced serious losses.
