Customs Court approves judicial remand of Irfan Siddique involved in Qatari luxury vehicles scam

ISLAMABAD: Special Customs Court Judge has refused to grant seven-day physical remand of Irfan Siddique (Manager Redco Textile), co-accused person in case of Qatari vehicles scam, to Customs Intelligence officials and sent him to jail on 14 days judicial remand.

Irfan siddique was under custody of Customs Intelligence from last one day.

Earlier Customs Intelligence and Investigation team raided premises of M/s Redco Textile Ltd, a property owned by ex-senator Saif-ur-Rehman, situated at Kallar Sydian Road, P.S Sagri Rawat, with the help of local police. The search led to the recovery of twenty one (21) foreign origin Toyota Land Cruisers. On demand, Manager Admin namely Major (r) Arif Shaheed Khan failed to produce any import documents regarding the lawful possession of these vehicles.

Therefore, the vehicles have been seized under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. In continuation of the above-mentioned information, Customs Intelligence, Rawalpindi seized two (02) more luxury vehicles parked outside the gate of M/s. Redco plot situated at Kurri Road, Islamabad.

During initial investigations it was revealed that 280 luxury vehicles had been brought unlawfully in the country and two hundred and fifty seven (257) such vehicles are still plying unlawfully in Pakistan. All these luxury vehicles have been unlawfully brought into Pakistan in the name of the dignitaries/members of the ruling family of Qatar.
