Multan Customs starts crackdown against illegal sale of DTH technology

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) started crackdown against the illegal sale of of smuggled Indian Direct-to-Home (DTH) devices in local market.

According to details, Direct –to-Home (DTH) satellite devices are selling in the markets openly and these devices are smuggled. Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has taken decision to ban their sale in all markets nationwide.

It is also pertinent to mention that imports of these devices are banned without approval of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority. But these devices are selling openly in the markets without any obstacles and Supreme Court of Pakistan have also asked Member Customs Muhammad Zahid Khokhar and Federal Investigation Agency to take stern action against their easy availability in the markets.

Multan Customs has received FBR directions from Member Customs to take strict action against selling of direct-to-home DTH devices in the jurisdiction and asked them to curb smuggling of DTH devices in the nationwide including jurisdiction of Multan Customs.

Member Customs Muhammad Zahid Khokar has also directed them to identify those factors which how such devices were being smuggled into country without any hurdle.
