Customs Airport confiscates smuggled goods worth Rs20m during October

LAHORE: The Customs officials confiscated as many as 304 bottles of alcohol and huge quantity of non-customs paid goods worth Rs20 million from passengers travelling via different flights during raids in the month of October at Allama Iqbal International Airport during different operations.

Sources told Customs Today that the customs team conducted operations in different flights which arrived from different countries.

Most of the passengers were travelling to Lahore from America, Australia, England and other European countries. Mobile phones, accessories, gold and other contraband items were also recovered from different passengers worth Rs20 million .

Operations were conducted in flights coming from London to Lahore, Turkey to Lahore, New York to Lahore and Sydney to Lahore. Customs took action in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights, Turkish airways flight, Gulf air and Saudi air flight. The security officers have launched an investigation into the matter.

Customs teams have started strict checking of the luggage of passengers specially coming from European countries. Customs has confiscated all the recovered alcohol bottles and goods and after completing necessary procedures forwarded the cases to relevant departments for further proceedings.
