Sialkot exporters should avail business opportunities in Bangladesh

SIALKOT: High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Pakistan Tarik Ahsan has asked the Sialkot exporters to come forward and explore the untapped international trade markets of Bangladesh to promote the strengthened bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

He said that Bangladesh was very keen to enhance the mutual bilateral trade ties with Pakistan, besides, finding out trade, tourism and business opportunities with Pakistan and setting up several joint ventures in different trade fields in Pakistan.

He stated this while addressing an important meeting of the sports goods manufacturers and exporters held at Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers Association (PSGMEA) here today. Chairman PSGMEA Ch. Muhammad Arshad presided over the meeting.

Bangladeshi High Commissioner vowed to make all out sincere efforts to boost mutual trade ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, saying that the time was ripe to further strengthen these mutual trade ties. He said that both of the countries have been enjoying the cordial trade relations.  He also pledged full support to Sialkot exporters to ensure the easy access of Pakistan business community to international Bangladeshi trade markets.

He stressed the need of promotion of strong Business-to-Business contacts between the businessmen of Pakistan and Bangladesh as well.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mr. Tarik Ahsan agreed with sports goods exporters’ proposal regarding the regular exchange of updated trade information and mutual trade delegations to enhance the trade between the two countries.

Bangladeshi High Commissioner in Pakistan Mr. Tarik Ahsan said that there were bright opportunities of setting up joint ventures with Sialkot-Pakistan business community in different trade fields, as the several Bangladeshi companies were showing keen interest, in this regard.

Chairman PSGMEA Ch. Muhammad Arshad that Sialkot-made sports goods could find a good market in Bangladesh. The main hurdle is direct link between business communities of both countries. There is lack of communication and proper marketing.

He said that Bangladesh should also focus on the direct import of the Sialkot-made sports goods direct from Sialkot-Pakistan instead of purchasing these sports goods from European countries on very high prices.

Chairman PSGMEA Ch. Muhammad Arshad added that Sialkot exporters have a great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets of Bangladesh by exporting their world class traditional and non-traditional export products. For improving bilateral trade, Sialkot exporters suggested that exchange of trade delegations and one-to-one meetings of businessmen of both sides may be arranged.
