Peshawar I&I generates Rs39.24m through auction of NDP goods & vehicles

PESHAWAR: Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) generated Rs39.24 million through auction of confiscated vehicles and 29 lots of confiscated miscellaneous smuggled goods. This auction fetched the exchequer a handsome amount of Rs39.24 million.

Talking with Customs Today, Director I&I Arslan Sabuctageen said that a grand public auction was held on 22nd of November 2018 at premises of the Direcotrate, and more than 20 non-duty paid (NDP) vehicles comprising jeeps, Premio, Fielders, Vitz etc and multiple seized consignments comprising foreign origin confiscated fabrics, tea, tyres, padlocks, auto-parts etc were auctioned.

Telling the details of the auction, he said that the Directorate invited to attend the public auction through the letters of invitation along with the list of goods which was being put to auction. The said letters were sent to Presidents of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Frontier/FATA Chamber and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He said that the staff of I&I Peshawar held the auction in a transparent manner following the Customs auction rules and fetched huge amount of revenue for the national exchequer. A good influx of participants was seen at the auction and most of the auctioneers belonged to FATA, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
