Customs intelligence seizes LPG consignment on tax evasion charges

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has detected misdeclaration and tax evasion.

The customs intelligence received information that a private company was attempting to import liquid petroleum gas (LPG) bowser from Iran.

The Federal Board of Revenue also received information against the importer for misdeclaration. The board shared the information with the customs intelligence.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Additional Director Nisar Ahmad received the import record of the importer. The importer had declared the import consignment of LPG bowser weighing 18,770 kg. The goods were declared from Taftan border of Iran on November 27 with the GD No 4179.

The actual weight of the LPG bowser is 31,139 kg, but the importer misdeclared the item for tax evasion. The customs intelligence seized the import consignment after verification of misdeclaration.

The total worth of bowser is Rs 4.4 million and the customs duty was Rs 1.7 million.

Additional Director Nisar Ahmad led the crackdown in Dera Ghazi Khan Division.

 

A first information report has also been lodge against the culprits and further investigation was underway.
