Rawalpindi I&I shows outstanding performance, seizes goods worth Rs7405m

RAWALPINDI: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigations showed tremendous and historical performance under the guidance of Director General Muhammad Zahid Khokhar during the first six months (July to December) of the Current financial year (2018-19).

Sources told Customs Today that Member Customs Dr. Jawwad Awais Agha has lauded the performance of the directorate. The biggest action in the history of Rawalpindi directorate was seizure of Qatar dignitaries vehicles worth Rs7405 million.

3,000 Iran-bound containers stranded at Karachi port as Hormuz tensions disrupt shipping

Rawalpindi Directorate has impounded non-duty paid smuggled goods including vehicles, cloth and electronic items worth Rs7700.46 million while during the same period of last financial year (2017-18), Rawalpindi Directorate seized the smuggled goods worth Rs240.55 million.

Rawalpindi I&I also recovered smuggled goods including electronic items and miscellaneous goods worth Rs14.99 million in July 2018 while during the same corresponding period in last financial year 2017, they seized goods worth Rs7.83 million.

Likewise in August 2018, anti-smuggling team of the Directorate seized non-duty paid goods worth Rs 47.6 million as compared to Rs.34.49 during the same period in 2017. In the month of September, Customs Intelligence staff seized the vehicles of state of Qatar and other smuggled goods worth Rs7405.39 million as compared to goods seized worth Rs.45.3 million in the same month in 2017.

While in the month of November and December, the Directorate seized smuggled goods worth Rs112.2 million and Rs74.98 million respectively as compared to the goods seized worth Rs52.89 million and Rs80.74 million in the same period of the corresponding year.
