LAHORE: Thousands of judicial officers across Punjab are set to get unexpected benefit after Lahore High Court approved scheme allowing eligible judges to purchase government vehicles at heavily discounted prices.
The initiative, covering around 2,000 officers, is being rolled out under the Transport Monetization Facility, with applications due by July 22.
After the approval, Director District Judiciary issued an official circular directing all eligible officers to submit a pay order for the prescribed amount to the Registrar of the Lahore High Court by July 22 to avail themselves of the scheme. Under Transport Monetization Facility, eligible judicial officers will be able to purchase official government vehicles for prices ranging from just Rs250,000 to 350,000, significantly below their original value.
The scheme covers a wide range of judicial officers, including District & Sessions Judges, Additional District & Sessions Judges, Senior Civil Judges, Civil Judges, and Family Court Judges. It also extends to judges serving in Anti-Terrorism Courts, Accountability Courts, Banking Courts, FIA Courts, Anti-Narcotics Courts, Customs Courts, and Labour Courts.
Furthermore, officers of the Punjab Judiciary currently serving on deputation at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad High Court, the Constitutional Court, and other institutions will also be eligible to benefit from the initiative.
The announcement is expected to benefit judicial officers across Punjab, with the discounted vehicle scheme becoming one of the most significant administrative incentives introduced for the province’s judiciary in recent years.
