Customs Preventive submits FIR of HSD oil smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer of customs preventive to arrest the culprits and submit charge sheet in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 10,896 liters High Speed Diesel (HSD).

On January 12, 2019, investigation officer submitted First Information Report (FIR) before the court and informed that information was received to the effect that Isuzu oil tanker, carrying non duty paid smuggled diesel oil is parked for delivery at Katiar Pump running under the name of Shell situated near Steel Mill More, National Highway, Karachi.

He further submitted that a team of customs preventive rushed to the spot and found that the said oil tanker was in the process of shifting the diesel in 6 empty drums lying there. Arshad, the driver of said oil tanker disclosed that he has to deliver the diesel oil in that pump and Anwar who loaded the diesel oil from Hascol Petroleum Limited for transportation at this place.

He argued that during the investigation, it was revealed that it is a strong indicator of the facts that detained diesel oil is smuggled/non-duty paid, therefore, the recovered oil along with oil tanker used for transportation of smuggled oil on the fake and fabricated documents have been seized.

He stated that efforts are underway to arrest the other members of the syndicate involved in the offense including to ascertain the legality and dubious role of pump running under the name of Shell.

After the hearing, the court directed him to arrest the accused persons and file charge sheet on the next date of hearing.
