Multan Customs halts duty tax collection from modification in body frame of Suzuki Sierra jeep

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs halted the duty and taxes collection of modified body of Suzuki Sierra jeep.

Sources told Customs Today that all field formations including Multan Collectorate halted tax collection from modification of vehicle of Suzuki Sierra jeep. It came into knowledge of Customs authorities that few unscrupulous elements were involved in legalizing their illegal vehicle body by paying duty taxes to customs after changing frame of Sierra Jeep to get legal status.

Multan Customs was also collecting fine from owners of Suzuki Sierra jeep because they file appeals in the High Court and other forums on refusal from Collectorates for the modification of body frame.

Smuggled vehicle body frame was replaced by paying duty taxes to Customs Collectorate for legalizing their vehicles and now Customs Collectorates has halted the duty tax collection from owners due to their suspicious vehicles.

Customs has also traced few smuggled vehicles which replaced their body frame of Suzuki Sierra Jeep after paying duty taxes. Therefore the Collectorate has stopped the progress of duty tax collection from modification of frame of Suzuki Sierra Jeep to ensure transparency.

The Customs Collectorates has also sought clarification from Federal Board of Revenue for modification of body of Sierra jeep.
