ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed Wednesday, while stressing the need for improving bilateral cooperation in railway sector, said Pakistan could access to European and Central Asian markets via Iranian railway network.
In an interview with state-run news agency IRNA, he said Iran and Pakistan should cooperate in creating railway linkages between Taftan and Quetta and Chahbahar and Gwadar. He said Iranian authorities had shown its consent to invest in improving Zahidan-Taftan railway.
The railways minister said he would convey an important message of Pakistani leadership to the Iranian supreme leader and president.
He said Pakistan desired to improve its ties with Iran that could not be done during last seven decades. He said it was also need of the hour that both the countries should enhance their cooperation in railways.
Sheikh Rasheed, during his meeting with Iranian Minister for Roads and Urban Development Muhammad Eslami, discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the railways.
