Multan RTO issues tax notices to 17 MPs for non-filing income tax returns

MULTAN: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) issued tax notices to 17 parliamentarians including 11 MPAs and 6 MNAs for non-filing income tax returns for the tax year 2018 and 2017.

Member Inland Revenue Operation Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed Regional Tax Office including other field offices for the enforcement of income tax returns from non-filers MPs for tax year 2017 and 2018.

Regional Tax Office has issued tax notices to 17 MPs including Federal Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wazir and others for non-filing of their income tax returns in 2018 and asked them to file their returns within 30 days.

South Punjab parliamentarian of Regional Tax Office includes MNA NA-181 Muhammad Shabbir Ali, NA-184 Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar,NA-189 Khawaja Sheraz Mehmood, NA-192 Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari ,PP-268 Malik Ghulam Qasim Hunjra, PP-269 Azhar Abbas, PP-270 Abdul Haye Dasti, PP-274 Muhammad Raza Hussain Bukhari, PP-282 Lala Muhammad Tahir Randhawa, PP-283 Ijaz Ahmad ,PP-212 Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, PP-217 Salman Naeem,PP-226 Shah Muhammad have not filed their income tax returns for the tax year 2018.

While NA-176 Malik Sultan Mehmood and PP-252 Muhammad Zeeshan Gurmani have not filed their income tax returns for the tax year 2017.

The Federal Board of Revenue has allowed Regional Tax Office Multan to issue tax notice to parliamentarians for non-filing of their tax returns under Section 114 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and directed them to initiate action after two notices and ex-party assessment could be done to generate tax demand for the recovery of due amount through attachment of bank accounts.
