ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was told by the Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi that the shipping policy is being revised with a new outlook and incentives.
The Meeting of the Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was presided over by MNA Mir Amer Ali Khan Magi. The agenda of the meeting was to given comprehensive briefing on the working of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), its performance in the past five years, acquisition of shipping vessels and recruitment policy vis-à-vis new recruitment done, violation of any rules in this regard.
Zaidi further said that a summary in this regard will soon be submitted before Economic Coordination Council (ECC). The said shipping policy will address the woes of importers, exporters and persons attached with the Shipping Industry.
The Standing Committee recommended that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) should be given preferential treatment by the government for the cargo related business and imports, while crude oil should be imported through PNSC. Regarding the recruitment policy, the committee showed dissatisfaction over the recent advertisement for jobs in the newspapers.
The committee desired to have complete details of recruitment policy and whether the quota has been observed in this regard.

Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Kesoo Mal Khaeeal Das.
