Projects related to mass media and water resources were presented in the meeting. The first project related to mass media was the Rs17 billion ‘Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE)’, which was presented by the KP government.

The project aimed at developing the tourism sector in KP, which would subsequently help generate employment and revenue, reduce poverty and develop infrastructure in the area. It also envisioned creating an enabling environment for private sector operations.

Speaking on the occasion, the planning minister appreciated the initiative taken by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promote integrated tourism.

He stated that promotion of tourism contributes to GDP growth, emphasising that the project should conform to eco-sustainability and eco-enhancement. He approved and recommended the project to ECNEC for further consideration.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Water Resources presented a project ‘Providing Stone Pitching and Stone Apron along Qadirpur Loop Bund from mile 7/2 to 8/4’. The project, worth Rs202.412 million, would be executed in District Ghotki.

The project is related to the issue of protection of infrastructure from floods. It was conceived by the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority after the onslaught of flood-2015 at Guddu Barrage. The CDWP accorded approval to the project.
