QUETTA: Collectorate of Customs teams deputed at various check posts have seized 1,00,000 liters of smuggled POL products carrying in ambulance and Indian goods loaded in other vehicles worth Rs70 million.
Sources told Customs Today that pursuing the secret information shared by Collector Preventive Iftikhar Ahmad the Customs staff intercepted various vehicles on GT Road and Lak Pass check post.
Sources further told that on information the Customs staff of Lakpass check post intercepted ambulance and during checking recovered huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled diesel. The staff seized the ambulance and registered case against the possessor of vehicles and smuggled diesel.
The sources informed that during other seizures the staff of Customs seized huge quantity of Indian origin smuggled goods comprises Pan Prag, betel nuts, tyres, fabric and smuggled medicine. The customs staff led by assistant collector impounded six vehicles from different location under jurisdiction of MCC Quetta and registered cases against the offender and tax evaders, the total value of above seized goods and vehicles is estimated in worth of Rs.70 million.
The sources said that all above seizers were conducted in last 24 hours while Chief Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary appreciated the crackdown conducted by customs staff of Quetta Collectorate against smugglers and tax evaders and advised them to continue this crackdown against offenders.
