Hyderabad I&I recovers smuggled goods worth Rs60m during April

HYDERABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) busted huge quantity of contraband items along with non-customs paid vehicles worth millions of rupees in different raids.

According to the details, on the tip off from higher authorities, the staff of I&I conducted successful raids during the month of April which resulted in seizure of Rs 62,874,000.

The Customs Intelligence office informed Customs Today that during different raids three non-customs paid luxury vehicles and 133 new heavy vehicles tryes along with nine vehicles used for smuggling purpose were also busted during the raids.

At least 150,000 liters Iranian smuggled High speed Diesel (HSD), 205000 packets of Indian origin Gutka, different brands of 36,000, 250 packets of cigarettes were also recovered.

Customs Intelligence officer said that ninety foreign liquor bottles, foreign origin shoes, 25,780 kilograms of smuggled betel nuts were also seized during different successful raids.

Director Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) regional office Hyderabad Sadiq Ullah Khan has appreciated the efforts of Additional Director Syed Naeem Ullah as well as Deputy Director Shah Faisal Saho for their tremendous work against smugglers.

Director Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) regional office Hyderabad Sadiq Ullah Khan has also said that the directorate is working round the clock with other law enforcement agencies to curb the menace of smuggling and soon the region will be made smuggling free.
