NAB apprehends GM Lahore Waste Management Company Tahir Maqbool

LAHORE: In a major development in Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) scam, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) here on Monday apprehended LWMC’s general manager Muhammad Tahir Maqbool, according to media.

NAB sources said that Muhammad Tahir Maqbool was arrested on the charges of corruption, receiving  kickbacks, illegal evaluation and providing unlawful benefits to blue-eyed contractors.

The sources said that Tahir Maqbool was involved in transferring double payments to particular contactors through fake documents and added that he gave contracts to Masers Al-Birak without any approval.

The anti-graft watchdog said that they had found corruption evidences of worth Rs.1 billion against the suspect.

Tahir Maqbool served in LWMC as General Manager Procurement and Contact and as consultant in Rawalpindi Waste Management Company.

Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore Waste Management Company case on May 13.

According to the details, the anti-graft watchdog  had also sent a questionnaire to Shehbaz Sharif for his May 13 appearance before the NAB team.

NAB sources had said that the questionnaire contained seven questions about Lahore Waste Management Company.
