Federal Budget 2019-20: 10pc ad hoc increase in salaries of govt employees

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Budget 2019-20 has recommended a 10 per cent ad hoc increase in the salaries of government employees.

State Minister for Revenue Hammad Azhar presented the budget in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The budget has recommended a 10 per cent increase in the salaries for government employees from Grade 1 to 16, including armed forces employees.

There will be 5 per cent ad hoc relief for government employees from Grade 17 to 20. There will be no increase in salaries for civilian government employees from Grade 21 to 22. There will also be a voluntary 10 per cent cut in the salaries of all ministers including the prime minister.

The budget has also recommended that pensions for government employees be increased by 10 per cent and the minimum wage be set at Rs17,500.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government presented its first federal budget for fiscal year 2019-20  with an outlay of Rs7.02 trillion, during a session of the National Assembly.
